Truing Stand Spacers

I knew we had a truing stand that we used for balancing cranks back in the day. I needed to use it for truing some wheels for a friend. Typically I will true up a set of wheels if I have the axle, vise, and any aerosol spray can with a straw. I have been lacing wheels since I was a kid from moto to bmx. But since I didnt have the axle I swooped up our stand. Come to find out it had no spacers for the stand! So I turned some down on the lathe out of a chunk of stainless I had laying around. Machining really functional shit is cool.

Just Kickers Event

Hunter and I went up to meet a bunch of his riding buddies from DFW up at Just Kickers. It was a good ride and fun time for sure. It was the Inaugural event. So next year oughta be even better! The only thing that was kinda sketchy was the bad weather that rolled in at night! I was laying down for bed and checked the radar and the shit was across the highway. And if anyone knows Oklahoma weather, it dont fuck around with tornados and shit! So we pinned it up to a hotel down the road and was kept dry. Next morning the weather was still really sketchy we pinned it home at a pretty good clip – about 85 90 mpg just blowing and going! Once we made it back into Texas we hit up Cracker Barrel! Nothing like a good breakfast in the morning! So heres a few pics from the event. Seen a sick bike too with reversed heads! Check out my face in the hotel after being pinned in the sketchy weather on the way there late at night! My eyes look like a was ripped!

Dialing In My Suspension

So I found some 1200 forks laying around in my dads old race shop at the ranch. They are fully valve-able with rebound and compression adjustment. Brought em home to clean up the legs, they had some dings from dirt track and road racing. Got em all dialed in and valved up and replaced the seals and bushings. And what do I notice after I scrubbed them by hand and even my bro Carter didnt even notice…… THEY WERE BOTH THE SAME SIDE LEG! I was like maaaaaaaaaaaaaan WTF! How did we both miss that! So now I need to find the other lower leg, or just sac up and buy one for 125$ from the dealer.

I also found these old shocks laying up there. I found some shock clamps for truck shocks with remote reservoirs, milled them out with the help of my buddies Jason Roberts, and Jeff Garins.  Beats zip tying them like all the dirt trackers do! The bad thing is they are 16″ eye to eye. So I machined up a spacer for both shocks and thought I could get away with not chopping the springs…. Wrong, the damn thing started leaking out the bottom of the rebound adjuster. I created to much pre-load on them. So I have yet to get to run these forks or shocks!
